Dostogir House — Navana Housing, Mirpur, Dhaka
A full fit-out of a 1,540 square foot apartment, where the whole strategy is to build the storage into the walls so the floor stays clear. Every room gets a single joinery wall doing several jobs at once — wardrobe, dresser, media unit and desk resolved as one composition rather than as separate pieces of furniture — which is how a flat this size ends up feeling larger than its plan. Living and dining are separated by folding glazed doors, so the two can read as one long space when the family is entertaining and close down to a quieter room when they are not. Above the living area a raft of backlit hexagonal ceiling panels carries the glass pendants and the fan, giving the main room a ceiling worth looking up at in a flat with no height to spare. Materials repeat in a tight set: grey-brown stone-effect panels, high-gloss cream lacquer, mirror and timber, with concealed cove and linear lighting doing most of the work so ceilings stay uncluttered. Teal runs through the bedrooms as the one accent, and every bedroom — including the children's rooms — gets a built-in desk, so study space is planned into the flat rather than improvised later.
